Ghost Hunt at The Talbot Hotel

The ghost of Mary Queen of Scots is said to haunt the Elizabethan Talbot Hotel. The oak staircase, and other parts of the building, were brought from the ruins of Fotheringhay Castle.

It was down these steps that she walked to her execution. If all this sinister historical association puts you off, you needn't worry; Queen Mary hasn't been sighted for over a week now.

Following on from our successful night during March, at another venue, we thought it would be a good idea, to bring the same workshop to a different venue to hold a public paranormal investigation.

Why not join us and take part in this paranormal workshop, and you can be a paranormal investigator for the evening and get involved in our exercises, which will include table tipping, dowsing, being a sound technician, being a camera technician amongst other things, or just sit back and watch the rest of the group.

We will also be investigating the staircase here, which has had some paranormal activity reported.

Also there will be a chance to be chosen to have your tarot cards read live during the evening, by our resident tarot card reader, we have never done this before.

Ghost Hunt at The Bell Inn

The Inn dates back to 1500 (though its origins could be even earlier, as there is a record of a local innkeeper in 1437).

From 1500 to 1515 Edward Tebald and his wife Alice owned the Inn. We know that their daughter Margaret and her husband William Redehede sued her parent's tenant for possession, but little else from those early days.

Today's building dates from 1642, the date marked on the southern gable, and the year in which the Civil War began. It was originally built of oolitic limestone and slates of Colleyweston stone.

Ghost Hunt at The Old Toll House

This 19th Century building has been used as a tollhouse as it is located on the river Nene.

During the Napoleonic wars, French prisoners were bought by river to Peterborough disembarked near the customs house and marched to the prisoner of war camp near Normans Cross.

For many years it was the home of the Hammond family – river boatman. The late Mr Ted Hammond who died in 1990 was born in the room directly above the entrance.

The west end of the building encompassed their domestic dwellings. On the top floor opposite the double doors and the round window was sited the first circular saw in Peterborough. Earl Fitzwilliam granted special permission to fit the round window, the only one in the building to feed the wood away from the saw the other end going out through the doors.
